In this interactive class attendees will focus on two kinds of peach preserves, a simple peach jam and pickled peaches! Participants will learn hands-on, how to safely and deliciously put up our Texas peaches to enjoy them year round, including ways to personalize your preserves to match your flavoring and sweetness preferences. We'll cover the waterbath canning method of sealing the jars for shelf-storage as well as common safety concerns with food preservation.
We will be working with Pedernales Valley Farms freestone, Dixieland peaches, which are at peak season now here in Central Texas. Participants will each take home two jars, a jar of peach jam and a jar of pickled peaches.
Light snacks will be served.
