Description

Slow Flowers Maine Meet-Up is delighted to welcome you to our Spring 2019 floral immersion, where new skills are taught and your designer’s eye is expanded. You do not need to be a member of SlowFlowers to participate. You do not need to be a professional florist to participate all levels are welcomed!

With an itinerary of creative unique sessions, this two day workshop will bolster your knowledge with ideas, new methods, and inspire your approach of SlowFlower floral design. We are committed to bringing and using locally sourced (and/or responsibly gathered) flowers and foliage from our fantastic Maine flower growers in the Portland area, Augusta area, Mid-Coast Maine, and a special select group of American flower growers in Oregon and California.

The Slow Flowers Maine Meet-Up will be hosted in a uniquely special, historic, urban setting in Biddeford, Maine.

For this workshop the dynamic duo of Rayne Grace Hoke of Flora’s Muse (www.florasmuse.com) and Laura L. Tibbetts of WestWind Florals (www.westwindflorals.com) will be partnering to instruct. We are enchanted with our schedule of sessions and creative professionals that we will be working with:

Natural Silk Ribbon Dyeing with Marcia from Lana Plantae Farmed Yarns (www.lanaplantae.com)

With the demand for beautiful, naturally dyed, silk ribbons skyrocketing, Marcia will demonstrate for us the timeless art of dyeing. She will discuss the fine points of what natural dyeing means, what the process entails, and how colors are achieved. Participants will create ribbons that will be utilized on foam free bouquets.

Art of the Bouquet

During this session Rayne and Laura will walk participants through the process of creating an elegant, artful, foam free, hand-tied bouquet. These beautiful bouquets will be wrapped with our luxurious naturally dyed silk ribbons and will become the focal points of our table for our grand goodbye dinner.

Design in the Round

In this session we will focus on creating a foam free, free form crescent moon composition display that maximizes floor space. Rayne will share her mechanic and construction secrets!

TableScaping in the Round

Designing a beautiful table comes with careful planning and execution. Laura will help us explore the world of tablescaping using carefully curated vintage elements and modern components which include stemware from local glass artisan Joseph Webster of Joseph Webster Glass (www.josephwebsterglass.com).

This is an experience for all your senses! With the cost of the workshop including meals (2 breakfasts, two lunches catered by, Biscuits and Co. Part &Parcle and Little Spruce baking Co, and one grand goodbye sit down dinner from The Farm’s Super Club), all supplies, flowers, foliage and stunning photos of your work by Patti of Kivalo Photography (www.kivalophotography.com) will leave you free to enjoy the creative process and splendor of being surrounded by the bounty of Maine in a Historic Urban setting.

Please note travel to/from workshop and accommodations are not included.
