About this event
Nothing is more beautiful than gathering community members to foster innovative solutions to one of our world's most significant challenges: preserving our world's natural resources.
The fashion industry has long been known to adopt inequitable and harmful practices in the name of creative freedom and mass production. Through our show, ‘Slow the System,’ Sustainable Youth Canada and Dsign Lab aim to promote sustainable consumption and remind individuals that we are especially powerful when we band together.
Slow the System serves as a platform for participants to make more ethical decisions about their consumption habits and show the enormous creativity that can take place outside the fast fashion industry.
Through storytelling, fashion, and performance art, we hope this show, taking place December 2nd, will help reverse a narrative seen as irredeemable and create a dynamic space to converse about harm-reducing solutions.
Slow the System will be hosted in the SSMU Ballroom (3600 McTavish Street, suite 1200) at 7:00 pm. We will also be hosting a clothing swap at the event. Feel free to bring clothing if you wish to participate!
