Description

Eat Food, Not Too Much, Mostly Plants

Menu

White bean, lemon and Cora Linn fritters with Falkland Farm greens and wild garlic pesto.

'A Modern Burger'; Spiced Peelham Farm lamb and puy lentil burger, garlic spinach, herby yoghurt, seasonal vegetable slaw.

Our Speaker - Falkland Kitchen Farm

Falkland Kitchen Farm began in 2014 when a young couple, Bryde and Nat, moved onto a small field on the Falkland Estate with nothing more than a polytunnel, a couple of spades and a big vision. They aimed to explore ways of growing and cooking exceptional food that would connect them to the natural environment and food heritage. Driven by a deep passion to create a vibrant food system, they are now a thriving young farm delivering vegetables to local communities and cooking amazing seed to plate menus at events across Scotland. The couple will join us to share their incredible story, as well as sharing learnings from their recent trips to South America and India.

Also on the night will be a special opportunity to enjoy a wee dram with one of Scotlands emerging spirit experts, Frederick Maitland from East Coast Whisky. East Coast Whisky promotes the life enhancing properties of whisky and its creative enjoyment, through tasting events and social media. A wee company with a big dream of bottling the special and distilling the finest, all in the sunny south east of Scotland. ECWhisky is thoroughly independent in thinking and whisky supply, given to its own opinions, and believes there is a whisky for everyone.

About Our Event

The last year has seen sustainability rocket to the forefront of the international food conversation following major reports by the UN, the Lancet and the scientific community highlighting the need for a drastic change in our patterns of consumption and production.

As Veganuary comes to a close , we ask the question ‘What constitutes a sustainable diet; for our bodies, minds and the environment around us?’ is it a vegan diet? Eating local? organic food? Or is it, as Michael Pollan puts it, simply to 'Eat food, not too much, mostly plants'?

Each evening will feature a carefully selected menu, based around our own take on a sustainable Scottish diet, together with a presentation by a knowledgeable speaker who will aim to encourage thoughtful debate over a glass or two of wine. We hope that you will be able to join us at The Edinburgh Larder, as The Edinburgh Food Social shares exciting plans for the year ahead.
