Event Details

Join us on Sunday October 20th, for this year’s most anticipated Slow Food Shoreline event – our Wild Fall Edibles Walk. This year our guides will be Stephanie Scavelli and Zaac Chaves from the Connecticut-Westchester Mycological Association. They have quite a treat for attendees! The foraging location is at Sun One Farm in Bethlehem, CT. Sun One is an organic certified diversified vegetable farm with a CSA and participates in a farmers market in New Haven. Both the forested and farmed parts of the property are amazing! On this 2 hour walk we’ll be hunting for prized fall mushrooms such as Maitakes, and we’ll also focus on the numerous wild edible plants available throughout our region. During and after the walk, enjoy expert instruction and discussion on such topics as edible invasive species, environmentally responsible foraging, and wild foods cookery. Participants will leave with a greater appreciation of the delicious and nutrient-rich flora growing all over the region this time of year. Our walk takes place at 1PM. Tickets are $18 for Slow Food USA members and $22 for non-members. Sun One Farm is located: 50 Maddox Road Bethlehem , CT 06751
