Join us for our Annual Meeting & Potluck - Free to Members and Non-Members
Always one of our best attended events, we take time to reflect upon the successes of the past year and unveil our exciting 2015 calendar of events. Help us express appreciation for board members who have served and meet the new members up for election.
About the Meeting
After we briefly conduct the business portion of the meeting, we will move on to the “real meat and potatoes,” our panel of guests. The focus of the panel discussion this year will be chefs and the farmers who work with them. Ever wonder how farmers know what to bring to chefs, how much and what kind of ingredients? We’ve chosen chefs who really know their farmers, visit their fields, and work to get the best local product possible. Hear first hand about how these chefs and farmers have surmounted the challenges that exist in getting local food on your plate.
- Craig Baker, The Local Eatery and Pub, Plow and Anchor, Bent Rail Brewery
- John Godar, rancher and supplier of pork to The Local Eatery
- Tyler Herald, executive chef of Patachou, Inc.
- Nate Parks, Silverthorn Organic Farm and supplier to Napolese
- Summer Cooper, forager, farmer, and employee of This Old Farm
About the Potluck
Another favorite part of this event is our potluck! Even though it’s cold out there, we challenge you to find ingredients for a potluck dish that represents that Slow Food values of Good, Clean, and Fair. Remember that the Indy Winter Farmer’s market has some great ingredients available on Saturday mornings, or visit local shops like Pogue's Run Grocer, Wildwood Market, R2GO, and Goose the Market. Maybe you even have a preserved item or root vegetables on hand that you can use!
To cut down on waste created by the event, bring a re-usable plate, eating utensils, as well as a serving utensil for your dish. You are welcome to bring your own beverages for the event as well.
