No? That's cool, we've got you covered. We're exploring Detroit's glorious baseball history, from its earliest incarnations as the Detroit Wolverines on the east side, through the glory days of the 20s and 30s, and all the way up to our current champions. There's a reason that Detroit is called the City of Champions, and our proud and darn-near-ancient baseball history is a big part of that.

From its earliest origins as an alternative to the snobbish sport of cricket, Detroit baseball has been hard-hitting, high-scoring, and often rough, much like our city. Detroit Free Press writer Richard Bak called Detroit's first official game between two teams "a form of class warfare" in which the Detroits routed the Early Risers, 59-21. Maybe because the Early Risers were tired from all those early practices!

We'll be hitting the storied spots of Detroit's baseball legacy: from Boulevard Park, the early home of Detroit baseball, to Navin Field (AKA Briggs Stadium, AKA Tiger Stadium, AKA Harwell Field). We'll be rolling through Boston Edison to gawk at some of the mansions of Detroit's baseball stars, including Ty Cobb, Willie Horton, and many others. We'll drop in on some old-timey base ball action. And we'll see the National Historic Landmar Roesink Field, site of one of the country's only remaining Negro League ballparks.

More details coming soon, but here's what you need to know:

Pick Ups: Ferndale behind Rosie O'Grady's at 12:15 PM

Downtown (Z Deck, Gratiot and Library Street) at 12:50 PM.

Going to the Tigers game at 7? We'll have a special drop-off at Nemo's bar so you can grab a drink and catch the shuttle.

FAQ!

What happens if I miss the bus? Will the bus wait for me if I'm late?

If you miss your pickup in Ferndale, you can beat the bus down to the Z Deck in Detroit and hop on there. We can't hold the bus for you if you're late, though. Sorry to be so mean about that. There's a schedule to keep and we want everyone to have a good time.

Can I drink on the bus?

Yes, within reason. Take it easy, lampshade. This is an educational tour, not a frat party. You're on a starting and stopping bus and there aren't frequent bathroom breaks. No, you can't pee on the curb. Also, please only bring things with lids; no open cups. Small coolers only, since the big ones are a safety hazard. And it's just plain illegal to take any open container on or off the bus. Drink on the bus? Sure. At the bar? Absolutely. But no drinks in the no-man's-land in between the two.

What if I can't show up? Will my friend be able to go instead?

Totally. Just let us know ahead of time via hello@thedetroitbus.com and we'll update your tickets with the new name or send them with your printed tickets.

Will you be selling extra seats at the bus?

Nope. Sorry. All passes gotta be bought online. There's a limited number of seats and we want you to have plenty of room - no roof riders no matter how badass that might sound.

What's your refund policy? I want me dubloons.

We'll gladly refund your tickets seven days prior to the day of the event. After that, there's no refunds. Sorry to be so mean about it.

What about weather SNAFUs?

We live in Michigan. Sometimes Mother Nature likes to throw us a curveball. We keep safety as our highest priority. In case of gnarly weather, you'll receive an email the day of the event with a raincheck/snowcheck date. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, you'll get a voucher good for a future tour with us.
