Sleep Wellness 101: Understand your sleep better in order to improve it

// About the talk //
In the first half of this 90 minute interactive workshop, we'll go through why we sleep, what happens when we sleep, and how to understand our sleep. We will do a deep dive into the impact of sleep on everything from regulating stress and emotions to supporting peak mental and physical health and reducing the risk of chronic conditions. We’ll highlight how to look for clues in your waking life to help you better understand what happens when you’re asleep. Interwoven throughout will be ways you can utilize this knowledge, making it applicable to your personal sleep situation.
In the second half of the workshop, we'll break up into small groups and dive deeper into how to link an understanding of sleep science to your sleep. We will create sleep objectives and discuss tactics that will be effective for your sleep, emphasizing how you can use the support of a group of peers and experts to start to experience better sleep.

Ruthie Nachmany is a certified sleep coach and a cofounder of The Rest, a support system for sleep based in education and community. She has led sleep workshops, talks, and Q&As at companies like Google, Kate Spade, and First Round Capital.
