Slavic Easter traditions brunch, lecture, ethnic display and interactive event
IMMEDIATE RELEASE Johnstown PA – Plan to attend “Brunch with the Arts,” lecture series hosted by Mesaros LLC, 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Venue of Merging Arts (V.O.M.A.), 307 Chestnut St., Johnstown, PA, (Cambria City). The event will present a learning and arts experience about Slavic European Easter traditions, including a brief lecture on worship, food, basket blessings and a folk-art display.

Event Agenda and Format:
- Light Brunch inspired by traditional Slavic Easter Basket food
- Display will include vintage traditional costumes, folk linens, photographs and how to create a Slavic Easter basket plus a vintage Slovak and Czech Easter postcard collection.
- Lecture and discussion on Slavic Easter traditions by Karen A. Mesaros.
- Interactive “Show and Tell” - Guests are encouraged to bring along a family heirloom to show-and-tell after the lecture, preferably an Easter related item such as an Easter basket cover, women’s babushka, your Grandmother’s mixing bowl, Slavic linen, recipe etc., and tell a brief story behind the item or your family Easter tradition. With permission, stories will be documented as part of an online oral history project. Participation in the “Show and Tell” is optional.
- Event is BYOB, ages 21+.
Those interested and know in advance that they would like to participate in the "Show and Tell" or those who cannot attend but would like to have a photo and their story shared can email info@mesarosllc.com. Advance notice of how many will participate will be helpful but not necessary.
ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ONLY and must be received by April 4, 2019.
TICKETS: $28 Adults, $15 Students (possibility of virtual live stream tickets—to be announced). No walk-ins.
