About this event
Winter is right around the corner, so if you want to learn more about winter weather in Michigan, attend this SkyWarn talk with Steve Considine, a meteorologist and senior forecaster who’s been with the NWS Detroit/Pontiac office since 2001 and has conducted SkyWarn Spotter programs and aviation weather outreach initiatives for several years.
SkyWarn will discuss winter climatology, review various types of winter storm systems and explain the impact large scale climate trends like El Nino and La Nina has on winter weather in metro Detroit. Additionally, SkyWarn will examine the meteorology of how these systems develop, discuss various forecast products used to issue winter storm warnings and provide a brief tutorial on how to report snowfall and other hazardous winter weather conditions to the NWS.
