SKWIM Clinic and Open House with Kevin McCarthy at Citiparks Oliver Bath Ho...
Wed, April 12, 2017, 6:30 PM – 11:00 PM EDT
Come to the historic indoor swim pool in Pittsburgh to for an evening of playing the official, aquatic game of SKWIM. Then all are invited to enjoy post-game socialization with local swim enthusiats, national experts, and the game's inventor, Kevin McCarthy.
Your help is desired as we extend a fun, warm, wet welcome to visitors and aquatic experts to the South Side and the Oliver Bath House for an introductory clinic, demonstrations and opportunities to play the official game of SKWIM, as directed by Coach Mark of Pittsburgh and Kevin from the state of Washington. We hope visitors here for the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA.org) annual meetings choose to attend, participate and join us in a SKWIM experience and post-activities socialization at our home / office, all within walking distance on South Side.
Bring your swim suit and towels. We'll supply swim fins! We've got the official goals, disks, head-bands and teams of lifeguards and swimmers to play against in the friendly games.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
SKWIM is a great mulit-generational game. SKWIM is often played among folks of various ages and abilities. We expect to have some high school swimmers and lifeguards participate, but the event is geared more for adults.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Walking (all sidewalks and flat) is the best option. Takes about 15 minutes. Go down Grant Street past city hall to Second Ave and turn left. Walk to the 10th Street Bridge, cross the Mon River. On the South Side, the Oliver Bath House is the second building on right side.
Taking an Uber or Lyft is easy too. Taxi as well.
RSVP for the ticket option to ride in the BGC van, but advance reservations is necessary.
What can I bring into the event?
A swim suit, towel, cap (optional) swim fins if you've got them as SKWIM is to be played in fins. But we'll have adult size fins to loan. Bring your goggles if you want to swim some laps to warm-up.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Mark@Rauterkus.com and cell: 412-298-3432.
What's the refund policy?
If you want to make a donation for food, drink, van ride -- that's fine but not necessary. If local participants want to bring some food, especially deserts, or adult beverages, feel free.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Can I update my registration information?
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
Yes. We'd love to have your email.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
