Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this live conference, participants should be better able to:

  1. 1. Incorporate into daily practice evidenced-based recommendations on new therapies for common dermatologic diseases.
  2. 2. Discern early signs and symptoms of psoriatic arthritis.
  3. 3. Explain the roles of current therapeutic agents in the treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
  4. 4. Assess and manage patients with psoriasis for associated comorbidities.
  5. 5. Integrate treatment approaches for the pediatric patient with common as well as severe skin diseases.
  6. 6. Implement updated strategies for the diagnosis and management of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, actinic keratosis, melanoma, and non-melanoma skin cancers.
  7. 7. Discuss common therapeutic regimens for the treatment of acne and rosacea.
  8. 8. Analyze different types of drug-induced cutaneous reactions and their common culprits.
  9. 9. Identify severe, life-threatening drug-induced rashes.
  10. 10. Recognize current sun-protection recommendations and their implementation in preventative care.
  11. 11. Describe how to select effective sunscreens and how to correctly apply them.
  12. 12. Discuss the clinical findings and treatment options of actinic keratoses.
  13. 13. Identify common presentations of non-melanoma skin cancers and their treatment.
  14. 14. Explain the different classes of topical corticosteroids and their appropriate uses.
  15. 15. Determine which topical steroid, which base, and the quantity to prescribe in various clinical scenarios.
  16. 16. Identify when combination topical steroid products are indicated and when they are contraindicated.
  17. 17. Discuss currently and newly available non-steroidal topical alternatives and their mechanisms of action.
  18. 18. Demonstrate enhanced skill in identifying atypical moles and melanoma.
  19. 19. Differentiate between HSV and VZV and describe measures to prevent transmission.
  20. 20. Describe how to diagnose and treat skin lesions caused by HPV.
  21. 21. Contrast the differences between cellulitis and stasis dermatitis based on recent literature reports.
