You want to keep a sketchbook or visual journal on a regular basis, but find that somehow you keep procrastinating, or losing your motivation, or you feel unsure as to what to do. Maybe you own empty or hardly used sketchbooks, or you have a collection of "how to books" on sketching and journaling that you want to use, but just never seem to get around to it. If this resonates with you, then this class may be just what you need. Having a structured time, some inspiration and guidance, plus a splash of camaraderie, may be all you need to get into the habit of keeping a sketchbook or visual journal. It's fun, relaxing, and a great mode for self expression. In this class, you'll be exposed to a variety of ways that sketchbooks are used — mark-making, sketching, planning, designing, painting, mixed media & collage — and explore what most interests you. What might you create if you were to pick up a pencil, or marker, or paintbrush, to see where it takes you? This class can help you find out! Guidance and encouragement will be provided if desired, or you can do your own thing in the company kindred spirits, all at a pace that is uniquely suitable for you. Whether you want to improve your artistic ability, or just express yourself and play, come to class with a sketchbook and some art supplies, and before you know it, filling your sketchbook will become a positive experience, and easier to do than you realized.
Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
