SKETCH FILMS : RED THREAD presents "Purple Skin" by Stephanie Martinez
Event Information
About this event
Join us for the online world premiere of Purple Skin - the third film for Amy Seiwert's Imagery's SKETCH FILMS : Red Thread documentary dance film project.
Purple Skin is a dance film created by Chicago-based choreographer Stephanie Martinez in collaboration with filmmaker Dean Berdusis.
Martinez’s film is inspired by the work of longtime activist, Lori Cannon, who has dedicated her life to supporting those living with AIDS/HIV, a particularly vulnerable community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The focus of Cannon’s work over the years has been providing food and household necessities to those unable to feed themselves.
The film will feature SKETCH alumni dancers Joseph A. Hernandez (ODC Dance & Kate Weare Company) and Kelsey McFalls (Company C, Dance Theatre of SF). Original score by Kishi Bashi and Emily Hope Price.
The evening will include a roundtable discussion with the artists. Following the premiere of the film is an interactive Q&A.
All tickets: pay what you can/sliding scale.
