Description

Antiquities & Museums: Past, Present and Future Scenarios, Best Practices and Ethical Considerations

Three Hours of CLE including One Hour of Ethics
Cocktail Reception to Follow

Our panel of speakers will explore the treaties and laws governing the circulation of objects, the history of collecting antiquities, how forgeries are made and detected, how authentic works are documented, stored, dispersed, and displayed, the politics of sending antiquities back to their countries of origin, and the outlook for an expanded legal market. Attorneys and their clients—particularly those in the art market or museum community—now must take extra steps to ensure that they are behaving both legally and ethically.

Speakers:

Maxwell Anderson, Author of Antiquities: What Everyone Needs to Know
Terressa Davis, Executive Director, The Antiquities Coalition
Herb Larson, Director, Tulane-Siena Institute for International Law, Cultural Heritage and the Arts
Susan M. Taylor, Director, New Orleans Museum of Art

Stephen K. Urice, Professor of Law, University of Miami School of Law
