Event Details

The Sixth Annual Broadway and Ballet HERO Awards will feature 10 stunning performances from stars of the Broadway and Ballet worlds, performing together on one stage. This year's performance will honor Michael-Leon Wooley, star of Broadway, film and TV. His credits include Louis the alligator in The Princess and the Frog, Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors, and he is currently starring in Rupaul's AJ and the Queen as Louis Bell. Other honoreers include Robert La Fosse, acclaimed principal ballet performer for both New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theater as well as leading roles on Broadway. In addition to his performing career, he is also an accomplished choreographer who has created over 75 works for ballet, opera, musical theater, film, and television. Finally, we will honor Clinton Greenspan, currently making his Broadway debut in the titular role of Alladin.

The 2019 show also includes performers from the Broadway casts of Chicago, Head Over HeelsA Bronx Tale, Dreamgirls, Kinky Boots, An American in Paris, Jersey Boys, Aladdin, Wicked and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular as well as leading dancers from ballet companies including the American Ballet Theatre (ABT), the New York City Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, The Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Pace University.

The 2018 Broadway and Ballet HERO Awards program will support HERO’s ongoing efforts to:

  • Promote and continue to expand resources for newly diagnosed and people living with HIV/AIDS on two HERO websites - and;

  • Promote the activities of HERO partners in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS; including Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, The Actors Fund, GMHC, The LGBTQ Center and many more!

  • Celebrate individuals and organizations that go above and beyond fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS and/or assisting people living with the virus.

  • Attend and report the latest HIV related news from around the world and share free video content with our partners.

Each performer is graciously donating their personal time and resources. The program will include world premiere dance pieces set to a variety of musical genres, with leading Broadway vocalists accompanying each piece. While the artists are primarily from the Broadway and ballet worlds, the works they create for this program will range from traditional to modern and clearly reflect New York City’s racial, ethnic, and sexual diversity.

The show will take place on March 23, 2020, at the Paul Taylor Performance. Limited tickets will be available at the door. HERO is a 100% volunteer organization; every dollar raised goes to helping to stop spread HIV and help those who are affected. To find out more about HERO check out our website at If you cannot attend, please consider making a tax deductible donation at or our Venmo - @HERO-HIV!

We would like to acknowledge and thank our sponsors… without them this event would not be possible. Sponsors include DRA (Dancers Responding to AIDS), Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Hugh Hysell-
