Program Overview

Six Sigma is a quality approach meant to improve services and products through eliminating the variation that causes errors and defects and generates outputs that are statistically free from defects. Benedictine University Six Sigma Green Belt is designed for individuals to learn the full process as well as prepare students for the SQA certification exam. Students will learn the methodology for defining, measuring, analyzing, improving and controlling to better increase the quality process.

Curriculum

The Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate program is a 5 day program and includes all topics covered by ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt Certification,

  • The Improve Stage
  • The Control Stage
  • Six Sigma in Action
  • Six Sigma Tools and Concepts
  • Preparing for the Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Exam
  • Practice Exams

This 5 day workshop qualifies students for the ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Exam by explaining the concepts, strategies, tools, and techniques they will need to complete process improvement projects and activities. The course is divided into modules that explain key foundational Six Sigma information, guide students through the steps of methodology, and demonstrate how a Six Sigma benefits organizations.

After completing this program, students should be able to:

  • Explain the concepts, tools, techniques, and strategies used in Six Sigma projects
  • Choose and apply specific tools and techniques in support of process improvement activities
  • Analyze the specific roles and responsibilities of team members and formulate plans to ensure appropriate participation in project assignments
  • Examine the interrelationships of tasks, activities, and practices in Six Sigma projects

Green Belt Certification

Students will learn math and analysis skills to use in diagnosis of problems within the workplace as well as on the Six Sigma Green Belt certification examination.
Students will be tested on their understanding and comprehension of course topics through challenging exercises, interactive games, and case study assignments. Video segments from subject matter experts also supplement the course material. Students will receive feedback throughout each module.
A professional certificate from Benedictine University Professional Development and Learning will be awarded upon successful program completion.



About the Instructor:

William (Bill) Hooper is President of William Hooper Consulting, a firm he started in 2012 with the mission of teaching and applying the concepts of Lean Six Sigma for small and mid-sized companies. His company’s business model is centered around innovative courses taught primarily hands-on using card and coin illusion, juggling and experimental helicopters to teach such areas as probability, hypothesis experimental method, statistical process control, capability analysis, regression modeling and Design of Experiments. Bill Hooper has taught the courses throughout the US, Canada and internationally in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. He has applied the model for large scale improvements in quality, downtime, rework elimination and cycle time reduction for manufacturing and transactional companies.

Bill is the author of the book published by CRC Press, Data, Statistics and Continuous Improvement: Creative Hands-on Techniques, released this past May of 2017.

He has an undergraduate degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan, an advanced degree from Indiana University, a Senior member of the American Society for Quality and holds five American Society for Quality Certifications including one of ninety-seven Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belts.
