African American women are twice as likely as all other races to experience an infant death and face an increased risk of preterm birth and maternal injury or death.

The Fresno County Black Infant Health (BIH) Program is a FREE prenatal program designed to provide social support to African American women and help decrease the risk of adverse birth outcomes in the African American community.

Come enjoy refreshments and meet BIH staff and participants. You’ll learn more about the support and services we provide and have an opportunity to enroll on the spot.

Eligibility requirements:

- African American woman

- Pregnant (30 weeks or less)

- 18 years or older

- Reside in Fresno County or willing to travel to the Fresno from surrounding counties

A woman who participates in program services can expect to learn health information, increase empowerment, develop advocacy skills, learn stress management tools, and develop a sisterhood with other pregnant women. The program consists of 10 prenatal and postpartum sessions known as Sista' Talk. Sista' Talk sessions are interactive and done in a culturally affirming environment. Those who enroll and attend seven (7) of the ten (10) prenatal sessions will earn an infant/child convertible car seat. Services that are also provided include:

-Gifts for mom and baby

-Prenatal yoga


-Transportation assistance to women living within the metropolitan city of Fresno and surrounding areas

- AND so much more!
