Event description

Description

Please join us for a special lecture with Sir Roger Penrose:
Do We See Evidence for Hawking Points in the CMB Sky?

Friday, December 14, 2018
3:00 - 4:30 p.m. | Kavli Auditorium, Tata Hall for the Sciences
UC San Diego

In this special lecture, Sir Roger Penrose will explore how Hawking Points --Stephen Hawking's prediction of glowing black holes -- explain the nature of how our universe was formed and if there are others like it.

Sir Roger Penrose is a celebrated mathematician and physicist. He is an Emeritus Professor at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford and winner of the Copley Medal and the Wolf Prize in Physics -- which he shared with Stephen Hawking. He has made profound contributions in geometry, black hole singularities, the unification of quantum mechanics and general relativity, the structure of space-time, the nature of consciousness and the origin of our Universe.

This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Please register by December 10.

Presented by the Division of Physical Sciences and the Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination.
