Event Details

The Singularity Summit Australia  represents a great opportunity - Singularity-related ideas, being once a vague and strange to most, are growing into an increasingly powerful force of possibilities in the minds of anyone who is technologically literate. For those who are already familiar with the accelerating pace of technological change, the Summit will help broaden peoples awareness of the widening vista of possibilities resulting from technological developments (for instance in biotechnology, nanotechnology and AI).

We cordially invite you to join our extraordinary group of visionaries in business, science, technology, design, and the arts, as our community explores this exciting topic This event offers a world of powerful ideas, a unique networking opportunity, and access to an exclusive directory of your peers.

Are you bored? Stop moping around all depressed about the future that didn’t happen, stop hiding under your bed from the dystopian future that could happen, its time to put down the remote, get up from your couch and participate in creating a more beneficial future. Lets Get Rational! Forget your tarot cards, the types of futures you trade on the stock exchange, come on down and witness amazing presenters speak about incredible things! Ponder how things once thought to be ‘impossible’ became plausible! Put on your thinking caps and help steer our path towards a preferred future (whilst helping decide what that really means). See you round like a tesseract.Singularity Summit Australia

Some history: The first Singularity Summit was held at Stanford USA in 2006 to further understanding and discussion about the Singularity concept and the future of human technological progress. It was founded as a venue for leading thinkers to explore the subject, whether scientist, enthusiast, or skeptic. There has since been a Singularity Summit every year in the US, and each year people have been flocking in greater numbers to experience and participate in the evolution of some of the most challenging ideas of our times.

This Summit held in Melbourne with local luminaries and big thinkers will be an excellent opportunity to see many inspiring talks and discussion panels.
To get an idea of the level of quality of presentations given in previous years go to the Singularity Instutute Media page.

In the media: Since 2006, the scope of this dialog has expanded dramatically. In 2008, the Singularity entered mainstream consideration. IEEE SpectrumIEEE Spectrum, a sober and mainstream technology publication, issued a special report on the Singularity, and Intel CTO Justin Rattner remarked that “we’re making steady progress toward the Singularity” during his keynote to 2,000 people at the Intel Developer Forum. GOOD did a great series on the singularity. There as even been a Congressional Report on the Singularity. More media coverage can be found here.
What was once a relatively unknown concept is now being discussed in corporate board rooms.

This is your chance to hear world-class speakers, and meet Australian and internationally acclaimed technoprogressives, enthusiasts, geeks, transhumanists, singularitarianists, skeptics, humanists, rationalists, academics and scientists etc. in Melbourne, one of Australia’s most vibrant and exciting cities.

We hope you will join us on September 7th, 11th & 12th.

Singularity Summit Melbourne

The Singularity Summit Australia represents a great opportunity, because Singularity-related ideas, being once a vague and strange to most, are growing into an increasingly powerful force of possibilities in the minds of anyone who is technologically literate. For those who are already familiar with the accelerating pace of technological change, the Summit will help broaden peoples awareness of the widening vista of possibilities resulting from technological developments (for instance in biotechnology, nanotechnology and AI).

It will be a fantastic opportunity for networking with people who are not ignoring the importance of technological growth, and who are aware of trends of technology moving into almost every endeavor, the impact this has on industry direction/headroom, and the mechanics of which society floats – not to mention the advantages that strategic vision can give.

We hope to see you at the Singularity Summit in Melbourne. If this is of interest, please let us know by registering your interest, and we will keep in touch with you about further developments.

The Summit will be held in Melbourne on September the 7th, 11th and 12th 2010.
