About this event

Singapore Mental Wellness Summit

Mental health plays a huge role in our work performance. Those struggling with depression, anxiety or other mental illnesses may find it difficult to concentrate, negatively impacting their work. They may also participate less or shy away from their colleagues and this will affect their teamwork.

This Oct, as part of the world mental health day, we are doing a mental wellness summit to do our part to spread the knowledge and habits that improve our mental wellbeing to our network of friends and supporters.

2 Factors Model of Motivation for Life

Adrian Chan - Director - Acerpacer Consulting

Former chief psychologist - SAF

Synopsis

In this session, participants are introduced to the notion of languishing, which is an uncomfortable plateau between having achieved the necessities of life for minimal functioning (hygiene) versus peaking towards a state of flourishing due to having found one’s raison d'être (motivator). (See pictorial depiction below)

For each phase in one’s journey, implications to one’s mental wellness are drawn. Suggestions for dealing with challenges and opportunities are elaborated.

Finally, participants are then invited to conduct a self-assessment of where they are in this upward journey. In an interactive setting, participants are put into small groups to share their insights and takeaways from the talk.
