Differentiation in the Chinese Language Foreign Classroom 照顾学生个别差异的语文教室

Workshop Descriptor:

This workshop will look at how we can differentiate instruction in the Chinese Foreign Language Classroom. It will provide participants with opportunities to explore and develop differentiated tasks for their teaching and learning.

本工作坊主要关注的是如何在对外汉语课上照顾学生的个别差异, 进行有效的教学设计。

Participants will 老师们会探索的是:

  • define what differentiation is 学生的个别差异指的是什么 ?

  • understand that differentiation is connected to readiness, interest and learning profile 个别差异与个人成长、兴趣、整体学习状态之间的关系

  • understand that we can differentiate through the process, product, content and learning environment 照顾个别差异的方法(过程、作品、内容及学习环境)

  • explore and develop tasks that promote differentiation in the classroom 如何设计一节照顾个别差异的语言课堂

  • understand the importance of flexible grouping 灵活分组的重要性在哪里

  • explore the connection between formative assessment and differentiation 进展性评估与照顾个别差异间的关系


This workshop is suitable for K-8 teachers who teach Chinese as a Foreign Language


Workshop Leader: Lilian Wong

Lilian Wong is a Chinese teacher, who in 2001 began her teaching journey as an international teacher. In the past decade, Lilian has developed herself as an educational leader through various roles she has played and continues to play in her professional journey. These include being a Chinese head teacher, International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) workshop leader, an IBPYP committee member (school representative), an IBPYP visiting team leader and a school consultant.

As a Chinese teacher, Lilian is always keen to reflect and develop strategies to enhance teaching and learning in her class in order to promote creativity and inquiry. Teaching through language, she believes it is important to make connections between cultures in order to enhance international mindedness in the students she teaches as well as the school community as a whole that she belongs to.

Workshop Registration Fee

Early Bird Fee: US$320.00

Registration fee after the 02 December 2019: US$350.00

Registration fee after the 02 February 2020: US$380.00

Please note that by requesting an invoice for payment and therefore to send money electronically you agree to the following terms and conditions:

Additional Administration Costs: An additional administration fee of US$100.00 . This fee will be included in the invoice.

Late Payments: If paying by invoice and payment for participants is not made prior to the workshops commencing, a late payment fee will be incurred of US$40.00 per person. The school will be invoiced for this following the workshops.

Cancellation Policy: Please note that each workshop will proceed based on participant registration. Innovative Global Education will inform you by 29 January 2020 or earlier if the workshop is to be cancelled. If the workshop is cancelled your full payment will be reimbursed. If the workshop is proceeding you will not receive an email.

Workshop Participation: If Innovative Global Education is informed by 29 January 2020 that a participant is unable to attend the workshop, a full refund will be given. If notification of not being able to participate is after 29 January 2020 IGE will be unable to refund the registration fee.

If, for any reason, a school needs to either transfer a registered participant to another workshop from the workshop registered or change the name of the participant attending a workshop, Innovative Global Education can make these changes on request from school or participant by the 8 February 2020 free of charge.

Important: Innovative Global Education must be informed by 8 February 2020 of any changes. If any changes are requested after this date, please note, for the change to go ahead there will be an administration fee of US$30.00 charged by invoice for each requested change.
