- Dynamics
- Vowels, jaw and tongue placement
- Harmonizing
- Vocal health
- Resonance
- Singing as a means for healing, relief and activism
For maximum enjoyment, we recommend signing up for the series. Drop-ins are welcome.
Adrienne Shamszad has been performing and teaching for over 2 decades. She is an experienced guide through the complex waters of vocal development and views the process of “learning how to sing” as a path of “learning to be at ease with oneself.” She is actively engaged in empowering people with the skills they need to use their unique voices to sing, and speak their truth with power, beauty and wisdom. Adrienne has learned Western classical technique from baritone Zachary Gordin and studies traditional Iranian vocal arts with Mahsa Vahdat. She has been a songwriter, singer and multidisciplinary performer for a lifetime.

A note from the facilitators about racism...
We see the rampant anti-black racism in America and the traumatic impact it has had on the Black community and human spirit for centuries. We hear the call from Black voices to white and non-black POC to engage strategically in the fight for Black liberation. Singing has the ability to dislodge stuck emotion, to create a clear pathway for grief, anger and fear to flow through our bodies. As we release these often trapped feelings, we awaken new, with refreshed love and energy for our art, for our activism, for our lives and for the lives of our loved ones. We need all voices on deck right now, clarified and communicating with purpose, to bring us closer to the end of white-supremacy. The facilitators of this singing series, (we are a non-black WOC and a white woman), are committed to maintaining a safe and healing atmosphere for all of us so that we each may leave the classes feeling lighter, stronger and clearer in our voices, our bodies and our thinking.
