Presenter: Nancy Peter, McKinney Center for STEM Education

Explore this collection of simple, low-tech, low-cost, and easy-to-implement STEM activities for Elementary School Youth. Participants will begin by quickly reviewing the current STEM education landscape, inlcuding how STEM eduction is defined and why it is important to whom. Attendees will then become immersed in simple activities that illustrate STEM content (such as life science and mathematics); that cultivate basic STEM skills (such as critical thinking and problem-solving); that exercise noncognative skills (such as cooperation and persistence); and that address multiple learning styles (such as doing, listening, reading, and writing). Lastly, participants will discuss how to adapt these activities to their own learners, and will explore additional STEM materials and resources.
