About the Workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to enhance the competitiveness of direct marketers by helping growers develop more strategic technology tools.  The Virgnia Farmers Direct Marketing Association received a Specialty Crop Block Grant from the Virginia Department of Agriculture to produce this marketing workshop. You do not have to be a Specialty Crop Grower to attend this workshop. 

If you are a Speciality Crop Grower, you may be eligible to participate in a subsequent, focused, Facebook Workshop or an Email Marketing Workshop at no additional expense, simply by attending this workshop! Specialty Crop Growers, as defined by the USDA, grow: fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops (including floriculture).  If you are not considered a Specialty Crop Grower as defined by the USDA, you will not be eligible to participate in these subsequent marketing workshops.

At this workshop, you will learn the simple steps necessary for strategic marketing. Topics include:

• Branding
• Effective Marketing
     – Websites, Blogging, Email marketing, Smart Networking, Offline (print)
     – Social Media Marketing

The workshop will be held at the Virginia Deptartment of Forrestry building in Charlottesville, VA.

More About the Subsequent Facebook Marketing Assessment and Email Marketing Workshops for Specialty Crop Growers

10 Specialty Crop Growers will be selected randomly from a drawing of workshop attendees who are considered Specialty Crop Growers to participate in a subsequent, focused, Facebook Marketing or Email Marketing Workshop at no additional expense.  These focused workshops will offer participants hands-on assistance with marketing strategist/experts and/or website developer/experts in a computer lab with a low student to instructor ratio (5-1).  Only those workshop participants who qualify as a Specialty Crop Grower will be eligible to enter the drawing.  Those Specialty Crop Growers who are selected to participate in the subsequent Facebook Marketing or Email Marketing Workshops will have the option of one or the other of the two workshops.  If, for some reason, neither of two workshop dates are feasible for the person selected through the random drawing, that person will have to forfeit their space in the subsequent workshop.  These focused workshops will provide Specialty Crop Growers with specific competitiveness by helping them develop strategic technology tools that are custom-tailored to their individual business needs.

About Our Instructors

Jeanne Willson is Owner/Director of Markbeech Marketing, a virtual marketing department for businesses who want outsource their marketing. Markbeech Marketing assists businesses in consistently and effectively building relationships with their prospects, customers, clients and referral sources.

They set up consistent and effective marketing strategies utilizing innovative technology like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, email marketing, smart websites and blogging.

She is also the Chief Marketing Officer at Check Your Marketing, a new marketing coaching program designed to education companies with 3-10 employees that want to handle their marketing in-house.

The Check Your Marketing program arms business owners with the understanding of new marketing techniques, the tools to implement them and the motivation to make it all happen. The program includes 2 monthly coaching calls, custom designed marketing tools and a private discussion group.

Jeanne started her career working at national advertising agency, BJK&E. She left the agency and worked for 10 years in national advertising sales for MTV, VH-1, Nickelodeon & Nick at Nite in Chicago. She moved to England and worked as a professional graphic designer and marketer for a publishing company in London.

Jeanne is a marketing graduate of Central Michigan University in the glorious 80′s and is absolutely passionate about her work, her clients, her family and her friends.

Kirsten Graham is a Virginia-licensed Mortgage Broker and the owner of three successful businesses; Creative Mortgage, River Title and Escrow and Check Your Marketing.  She had been originating residential mortgages for over ten years when she opened her mortgage brokerage firm, Creative Mortgage, in May 2005. Kirsten works with first time home buyers, real estate investors and self employed borrowers to ensure they get the best mortgage for their individual situation whether they are buying a home or refinancing.

As the co-founder of Check Your Marketing, Kirsten brings her talent at business coaching and motivation skills as well as her mentoring skills to business owners looking to grow their business.
Kristen was Winner of the 9th Annual Star Awards from ABWA for outstanding achievement in Small Business Management and has been honored with Style Weekly’s “Top Forty Under 40” award, which reflects her career success and outstanding service to our community.

Kirsten lives life with the same passion she has for her work. She loves lounging by the pool with her hubby, Hunter, traveling the globe, her sweet puppy, Kha, good red wine and spicy food.
