Event description
Simon Winchester returns to Boswell to discuss his new book LAND with Marcy Bidney of UWM's American Geographical Society Library

About this Event

Simon Winchester, author of The Men Who United the States and The Professor and the Madman, returns to discuss his new book, LAND: How the Hunger for Ownership Shaped the Modern World, with Marcy Bidney, Assistant Director for Distinctive Collections at the American Geographical Society Library, part of UW-Milwaukee Libraries. AGSL helped with research for LAND and provided one of the maps featured in the book.

Land - whether meadow or mountainside, desert or peat bog, parkland or pasture, suburb or city - is central to our existence. It quite literally underlies and underpins everything. Employing the keen intellect, insatiable curiosity, and narrative verve that are the foundations of his previous bestselling works, Simon Winchester examines what we human beings are doing - and have done - with the billions of acres that together make up the solid surface of our planet.

Tickets to this event are $23.99 (20% off the list price of LAND) plus sales tax and ticketing fee. You can pick up your book at Boswell after the January 19 on sale date. For $4 more, we'll ship your book anywhere in the United States via USPS media mail. Upgrade to USPS priority for $8.

Please note that tickets are nonrefundable after January 17. Attendees will be able to watch a password-protected video of the event if they are not able to attend.
