Seattle's store for the rocks, gems, and everything for lapidary work.  We love to share our passion for nature and foster creativity and learning. Our staff is friendly and knowledgeable and very excited about the hobby. The shop and classrooms are comfortable and inviting.  There's so much to see, you might find yourself there for a long while.The NW Rockhounds Education Center is powered by Shunpike and can receive tax deductible donations. Shunpike is the 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides independent arts groups in Washington State with the services, resources and opportunities they need to forge their own paths to sustainable success. We hope through fundraising efforts, these classes can be offered at minimal cost to grow and nuture the art of rockhounding. Students who withdraw 7 days (or less) prior to the start date of the first class DO NOT receive a refund of any kind.CANCELLATIONS:All classes not meeting their minimum requirement three days prior to class start date may be cancelled. NW Rockhounds

This intermediate class is for those with soldering and basic jewelry fabrication skills who want to perfect their setting technique.

Instructor: Christina BengtsonDate: Saturday May 16thTime: 11:30am-3:30pmAges: 18 &amp; upPrice: $90 + $45 Kit fee (see bold below)(The PREREQUISITES for this class are Silversmithing Level 1-Butane Torch &amp; Silversmithing Level 2 - Jewelry Soldering or prior butane torch silver soldering experience)This intermediate level class is for those with soldering and basic jewelry fabrication skills who want to add a new skill or perfect their setting technique. Bezel settings are extremely versatile and perfect for capturing any flat back stone. In this workshop students will choose from a variety of cabochons and learn the calculations for building a proper fitting bezel setting with fine and sterling silver. In this class you will learn how to calculate bezel strip length and width, 2-3 operation soldering, setting cabs and at least one completed cabochon set stone/glass pendant.There is a supply kit fee made payable to the teacher day of class by cash or check. Please come prepared to pay this fee.- Please Read Below -Check your email a few days before your class for further instructions.This class requires a kit fee, please come prepared.Our classroom is located upstairs and are limited to 6 students for this class.Masks OptionalYou are purchasing a seat at an event just like a sporting event or concert. These tickets are not transferable to a different class credit or store credit if you are not able to make it. Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a refund.
