Event description

Description

CLASS DESCRIPTION Metal clay is an amazing innovation: tiny metal particles are mixed into a moist organic binder. It feels like clay as you texture, shape, and embellish it; then the binder is burned away at temperatures just high enough to turn what’s left into a solid metal featuring your original designs.

In this session you will make two fine silver charms — for yourself or to give as gifts! You can make them into a pair of earrings, or later dangle them from a bracelet, necklace, cell phone, key ring, or wherever else strikes your fancy.

PLEASE NOTE: Pieces will be fired after class, and available for pick-up at Artsmiths one week later.

INSTRUCTOR For the past decade Carol Scheftic has been working with and teaching classes using a range of different “powder metallurgy” techniques. Carol has been certified as a metal clay Artisan by Rio Grande (a major jewelry supply company and importer of the PMC-brand of precious metal clays) and accredited as an Instructor in a program organized by Hadar Jacobson (USA-based inventor, manufacturer, and distributor of a line of base metal clays). She is a member of the Cranberry Artists Network, the Pittsburgh Society of Artists, and the International Guild of Miniature Artisans.

SKILL LEVEL ALL - Beginners welcome!
