Event Details

9th Annual Silicon Valley Bike Summit
the region’s largest gathering of active transportation leaders and organizers from government, the private sector, non-profits, and the general public.

Exciting new activities this year:
- Pop-up protected bike lane on California Street between Caltrain and the Community Center
- Interactive demos with e-bikes, e-scooters, and more
Mountain View bike ride tour during breakout sessions (limited space)
- Bike ride after the event on the pop-up bike lane to Mountain View’s Thursday Night Live open streets event on Castro Street between Mercy and Villa, including a bike rodeo and other transportation activities

$50 registration - including day of registration. Includes a light breakfast and lunch.
Scholarships are available for those to whom the cost of admission is prohibitive; please contact to apply.

Getting there:
Take an active mode – walk, bike, bus, take transit or carpool. Bike to the Summit and enjoy free bike valet!

Mountain View Caltrain Station is 1.6 miles away.

Bike Pool:
Arrive on the  8:28am train to the Mountain View station  and head to the the penny-farthing bike racks - in the plaza just south of the old depot building that hosts the Savvy Cellar wine bar, an ATM, and a bike cage. Here you'll find John Brazil and Lola Torney, our ride leaders:). 
The group will depart for the Community Center at 8:35am.

9:30-10 am Introduction and Welcome: Mountain View Mayor Lisa Matichak and SVBC Executive Director Shiloh Ballard
10-11 am Opening Plenary: Oakland's Equity-Centered Bike Plan
11 – 11:20 am Break
11:20 am -12:40 pm Breakouts
- New Mobility: e-scooter policy, Bike Share for All, Caltrain station improvements

- Designing Safe and Innovative Streets: learn about San José’s Better Bikeways Network, new bike facilities in Fremont, and more
- Creating Successful Safe Routes to Schools Community Partnerships: Effective Safe Routes to School programs require collaboration across agencies, groups, and ages. Hear from leaders in San Mateo County and how to break down barriers to get more kids biking and walking.
- Mountain View bike tour
12:40 - 1:40 pm Lunch
1:40 – 3 pm Breakouts
- Vision Zero and El Camino Real: El Camino Real has a higher rate of collisions than other streets in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Learn what Caltrans, Redwood City, and local stakeholders are doing about it.

- How to Get Things Done: Healthy Equitable Transportation Policies and Planning: how do you make an impact on bureaucracy? Learn from city and county officials how to engage in the processes and what to push for as well as local advocates who have been successful.
- Rails with Trails: what can we learn from rails with trails projects in Marin-Sonoma Counties and Santa Cruz?
- Mountain View bike tour

3:20 – 3:40 pm Awards ceremony
3:40 – 5 pm Final session: Pecha Kucha of exciting bike things!
5 – 5:20 pm Wrap up and intro of evening activities
5:20 – 5:40 pm Bike ride to Thursday Night Live
5:40 – 8:30 pm Thursday Night Live
Group Bike Ride and *Thursday Night Live: 5 – 8:30 p.m. 
*Thursday Night Live - Castro Street in Mountain View will be closed to traffic so the public can walk the street to enjoy restaurant dining, shopping, children's actvities, a farmer's market, and live music.
