Event Details

Explore the possibilities of Scratch 2.0, the next generation of the Scratch programming environment and online community. Young people (elementary through college) are using Scratch to program and share interactive stories, games, animations, and simulations – and, in the process, learning important computational concepts and practices. Scratch 2.0 migrates Scratch to the cloud, making it possible to author Scratch programs directly in web browsers, allowing more seamless collaboration and new opportunities for creative expression. At this hands-on workshop, you’ll create projects using new features and capabilities of Scratch 2.0, such as “cloud variables” for accessing online data and webcam programming blocks for sensing movements in the physical world. We will also discuss the educational ideas underlying Scratch 2.0 and strategies for using Scratch 2.0 in various educational settings.

Participants are expected to bring their own laptops. (Sorry, no tablets, only laptops.)
