WHO MAY ATTEND
Attendees should be current Sierra Club outings leaders (or leaders in- training) who have taken Sierra Club OLT101 (basic outdoor leadership training) within the last 4 years. You can take/renew this training online for free on Sierra Club's Clubhouse site: http://clubhouse.sierraclub.org/outings/training/intro/olt101/wbt/index.asp (See password help in the upper right corner of this web page).
*Non-Sierra Club members and Club members who do not wish to lead outings may register but will be placed on a waiting list--and will be notified of acceptance no later than August 8th (and will receive full refund if not accepted).
We will provide dinner (lasagna and home made ice cream!) Friday night, and breakfast Sunday morning. All attendees should bring their own food for Saturday and camping gear/equipment needed for a 3 day/2 night outing.
Attendees who reserve a cabin spot with us (and buy a "Cabin Camper" ticket) will have lodging arrangements taken care of but must bring their own towels and linens. There are only 15 cabin spots available (3 cabins sleeping 5 per cabin: 2 bedrooms w/two single beds, one pull out couch). We will assign you to a room with an attendee of the same gender. Priority for these cabin spots will go to Sierra Club outings leaders/leaders in training. Click here for the Hanging Rock State Park Cabin Brochure for more information about the cabins.
Attendees who do not want to stay in a cabin must buy a "Reserving Own Lodging" ticket and should contact Hanging Rock State Park to make their own campground arrangements. You can also reserve a tent camping spot by searching available options at Hanging Rock State Park here: http://northcarolinastateparks.reserveamerica.com/campsiteSearch.do
This training will prepare participants to lead overnight trips away from cars (Sierra Club Level 2 outings). Participants must complete a Level 2 provisional lead (after this training weekend) to finish Level 2 certification. More info to be provided about certification during the training weekend.
More information can be found on our NC Sierra Club Outings Leader Resources page.
