Sibshops - AGES 5-8 - limited spaces (please read description)
Sat, April 29, 2017, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM EDT
Who attends Sibshops? Sibs, of course! Most Sibshops are for sibs of kids with developmental concerns. Increasingly, Sibshops are being offered for brothers and sisters of kids with special needs. While Sibshops were developed for sibs in the 8-13 year-old age range, Sibshops (depending on the community) are being offered for sibs as young as six and for teens as well.
Sibshops provide young brothers and sister peer support and information in a lively, recreational setting.
• Meet other sibs (usually for the first time);
• Have fun;
• Talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs with others who “get it”;
• Play some great games;
• Learn how other brother and sisters handle sticky situations sometimes faced by brothers and sisters;
• Learn something about the services their brothers and sister receive; and
• Have some more fun!
This project is brought to you by UCF Card, The Family Liaison Project and SOAK- Autism Support Group.
Cheese Pizza/drinks will be served for lunch. If you need any other accomodation for lunch, we kindly ask you to bring your own.
