Description

Shuiluo Student MRI Fundraiser Dinner

  • In 2013, BLSCP raised $19,000 to provide brain surgery for Lhungtse, a blind Tibetan girl suffering from a parasitic disease called cysticercosis. We saved her life.
  • Cysticercosis is highly prevalent, dangerous, and almost totally neglected in China.
  • Now we need to provide diagnostic MRI brain scans for 56 Tibetan students at Shuiluo Primary School in Kham (southern Sichuan Province).
  • Their blood has already tested positive for cysticercosis. The MRIs are needed to confirm the diagnosis and determine treatments. June 2017 is our target date for the MRIs.
  • This benefit dinner will support the costs of the MRIs.
  • Kindly show your compassion for these 56 kids by purchasing a table for 4, 6, or 8 people or individual tickets at $50 per person. If you are unable to attend, you may purchase tickets for others or donate by scrolling to the bottom of the five choices for ticket type and donate with a credit card.
  • Enjoy a delicious Tibetan buffet dinner; listen to our guest speaker, Tamdin Wangdu, Founder & Executive Director, Tibetan Village Project; and learn about the Shuiluo Student MRI Project from Bill Warnock, BLSCP President.
  • Please bring your appetite for the afternoon hours of our event. Between the restaurant’s lunch and dinner times, the owners will happily open their restaurant just for us!
  • You may access the project budget, photos, and other information at boulder-tibet.org/news.html.
