Event description

Description

England's Prince Albert must ascend the throne as King George, but he has a language impairment. Knowing that the country needs her husband to be able to communicate effectively, Elizabeth hires Lionel Logue, an Australian actor and speech therapist, to help him overcome his stammer. An extraordinary friendship develops between the two men, as Logue uses unconventional means to teach the monarch how to speak with confidence.

Dr Sharon Millard, a Speech and Language Therapist at the Michael Palin Centre and educator City, University of London will act as discussant. She has been involved in the development of a range of therapy packages offered at the Michael Palin Centre. Her research has focused on investigating the effectiveness of therapy, specifically the therapy programme delivered at the Centre.

This event is open only to City, University of London staff and students due to licensing laws.
