Event description

Description

In addition to your technical skills, navigating the workplace requires you to work cooperatively, communicate across differences, solve problems, and build and repair relationships … all of these relate to negotiation skills. You already have a way you approach negotiation and have negotiation skills. However, you probably don’t think about the process of negotiation very much before you jump right in.

This workshop will introduce you to a framework to effectively use your skills by incorporating a strategic approach to negotiation. You will also share your experiences and insights with your colleagues.

Why Attend this Workshop

People often enter negotiations armed with emotionally-charged positions - defining what they want and making assumptions about other parties’ motivations and needs. The default approach is for all sides to work hard to stick tight to their own positions. This posturing dynamic fosters adversarial relationships that become difficult to overcome and ultimately hurt your long term success.

This workshop introduces the skills needed to gather information, identify underlying interests, and develop a problem solving strategy that is based on a realistic assessment of what is most important to all sides. Lessons learned transfer to many facets of business and personal life.
