Event description
Lunch@65West presents a debate about the proposed Constitutional amendment to establish a graduated income tax system for Illinois.

About this Event

In advance of the November 2020 ballot question facing Illinois citizens, Lunch@65West invites you to join us for a lively debate exploring both sides of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s proposal to amend the Illinois State Constitution to replace the current flat tax with a graduated state income tax.

Ralph Martire (Pro) is Executive Director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability (CTBA), Arthur Rubloff Endowed Professor of Public Policy at Roosevelt University, and a member of Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Budget & Innovation Committee. The CTBA is “committed to ensuring that state, federal and local workforce, education, fiscal, economic, and budget policies are fair and just."

Dan Proft (Con) is a radio talk show host on AM 560, former candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor, and co-founder of the Illinois Opportunity Project, which “seeks to promote the social good and common welfare by educating the public about public policy that is driven by the principles of liberty and free enterprise.”

Our forum begins with registration at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and the program at noon and adjournment by 1:30 p.m. The cost of the November 20 Lunch@65West is $35 per person (plus Eventbrite processing fee). For more information, please call the Public Affairs office at (312) 435-5946.
