Event description

Description

Samar, directed by Kaveh Jahed, Iran (8 minutes)
This is a story about a father in Iran who struggles with depression over problems with his children and coming to terms with the terrible loss of his wife, the mother of his daughter. It is a universal story about coping with loss.

The Nuclear Family, directed by Ari Beser, USA (25 minutes)
Ari M. Beser is the grandson of Lt. Jacob Beser, the only U.S. serviceman aboard both atomic bomb-carrying B-29s. He went to Japan to document the social impact of nuclear technology in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and Fukushima.

Oak Bones, directed by Lindsay Corriveau, USA (15 minutes)
A woman, carved from wood and brought to life by a possessive artist, unwittingly falls in love with a scarred street performer and the turbulent world he inhabits right outside her window.

Beauty School, directed by Amy Nicholson, USA (9 minutes)
The New York School of Dog Grooming was in business for almost 50 years. It was the kind of place hundreds of people walked by each day without giving a thought to what went on inside. Beauty School goes inside. This is a warm, funny portrait of a school that teaches a profession unlike any other. Beauty School screened at many film festivals including Hot Docs, Woodstock, Salem, Atlanta, Austin and Edinburgh International. It has aired on PBS and the Documentary Channel.

Pietas, directed by Rob Waters, USA (4 minutes)
Sometimes the toughest part of your day is explaining it to a loved one.
