Welcome back to Soleil Space's Short FIlm Saturday. This week we chat with Clish Gittens from Barbados and BecX from Jamaica, two amazing filmmakers.
Clish Gittens is a visual anthropologist who seeks to capture the unique lived experiences and stories of Caribbean people. Through his lens, he is able to share the stories of Caribbean livelihoods, culture, habitats, and environmental changes to bring awareness to Caribbean sustainability from an island perspective. In the realm of cinema, Clish is a multiple award-winning Caribbean filmmaker, who has won regional and international awards for his advocacy through eco-documentaries. Through art, his purpose is to tell Caribbean stories through Caribbean lenses.
Becx is a filmmaker, photographer, writer and painter based in Kingston, Jamaica.
She recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a B.F.A in Film and TV Production. OUT OF MANY: The bubble of Asha's privilege is popped when she sees the dead body of a street cleaner while out with her driver. From this point on Asha's world seems tainted, and she is thrust into deep introspection.
SEASIDE STABLES: A short film which explores the cultural relationship between racehorses and the beautiful tranquil Caribbean ocean along the shorelines of Pebbles Beach, Barbados.
