The Shoal Creek Restoration project is a 1.2 mile urban creek and park restoration project in downtown Austin. The project provides erosion protection in Shoal Creek, improves the quality of stormwater runoff that enters the area, and restores native vegetation along the creek corridor The project was sponsored by the Watershed Protection Department in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department and community stakeholders. Project components include 3,000 LF of bank stabilization, addition of creek crossings and pedestrian and bike trails, relocation of wastewater lines from the creek, soil and riparian restoration, and eight stormwater quality features including rain meadows, a biofiltration pond, and vegetated swales.
Eric Stewart, a Project Manager with HDR, has 16 years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design, stream rehabilitation and restoration, and stormwater quality management. He served as the design team Project Manager and Engineer of Record for the multi-mission Shoal Creek Restoration Project at Pease Park.
