The process of dyeing natural fabrics in indigo using shibori wrapping techniques creates beautiful patterns. You will be amazed at your creations. Join us in this workshop to learn some 4-5 different wrapping techniques and create your choice of items listed below. You may also bring your own shirt or small item to dye if you choose (it must be a natural fiber, cotton, bamboo, silk, etc., to take the dye).

  • Scarf and 2 kitchen towels

  • Set of 4 cocktail napkins and 2 kitchen towels

  • Linen pillow cover - 20" x 20" and a kitchen towel

  • Large canvas pouch

  • Beach sarong

  • Turkish towel

Indigo is one of the oldest dyes to be used on fabric. Shibori is a set of resist dyeing techniques for fabric developed over centuries in Japan. The word comes from the root verb shiboru which means “to wring, squeeze, press.”
