Overview

Learning Labs are the heart of SHI’s systems-change work.

These Learning Labs provide the foundation for the collaborative work that is the heart of SHI. The 2026 series is informed by and will build on the powerful in-person gatherings SHI has had during four Learning Journeys (Appalachia, Oregon, and Nicaragua). The structure will continue with and deepen the work of previous SHP Learning Labs. We will share case studies, especially examples from ongoing SHI Working Group initiatives, to illustrate these ideas in practice and identify tools to help implement these ideas in new initiatives (to be undertaken individually and collaboratively).

The series will be co-facilitated by SHI Director Ann Armbrecht and Julie Arts, a senior Faculty member and consultant with the Presencing Institute, which offers a model of awareness-based systems change that works at getting to the root causes of systemic change and identifying key steps to address those issues.

This video offers a window into the work that SHI members do. Alll of this work emerges from the foundation set during the virtual Learning Labs.

This Learning Lab is a wonderful opportunity to bring in more employees of current SHI member companies and for potential new SHI members to experience the work we are doing.
