Shelf Life Kids Art Class PREVIEW with Nina Green for Grades K-5 and 6-9
You may have heard that we offer art classes for kids here at Shelf Life Art & Supply Co. Have you been curious to try, but wary of making a commitment? Come join us for a class PREVIEW on Saturday, 28 December 2019. We have two classes to choose from based on your child's grade level.
Draw and Learn, Grades K-5th meets from 11.15a-12.15p
Drawing from Life, Grades 6-9th meets from 12.30-1.30p
This preview will be structured exactly the same as the regular semester class, so you can understand exactly what to expect from our fun and affirming program! All materials are included in both classes.
About Draw & Learn, Grades K-5th:
Does your child want to learn how to draw realistically? Do they want to practice using all different types of art materials? Does your child want to meet some friends who also really love to draw?
Nina Green teaches real-life fundamental drawing techniques tailored to individual skill level, that can be built upon as students continue to grow. With Draw & Learn we believe that anyone can learn to draw and have fun doing it! Each class brings a new lesson about art history, world cultures, and the natural world. Students will build important drawing skills and produce finish artwork using materials like oil pastel, soft pastel, art markers, collage, colored pencils, and watercolor. Your kids will enjoy themselves and you will be amazed at their progress. Open to students in Grades K-5.
About Drawing from Life, Grades 6-9th:
Does your young t(w)een love to draw? This hour-long class is a great way to learn the fundamentals of drawing what you see in front of you (a.k.a. drawing from life). We will work on modeling skills, shading & value, in addition to introducing perspective and portraits. This is a "next step" for students of Draw & Learn (though Draw & Learn is not a pre-requisite), and appropriate for both students who have experience, and those who are new to observational drawing.
Almost all great artists are really good at drawing from life before anything else. It is considered one of the most important tools in an artist's skill set. Any kids interested in pursuing art more seriously as a hobby or a career will benefit greatly.
Lessons will each build upon one another during the session. These are small classes with highly individual instruction and attention to each student's developmental level and needs.
