Giddy by Nature's mission is to show how when you are your happiest self, you function more actively with the world around you. While there are so many accessible hikes and adventures around Seattle - the intention of this workshop is to encourage girls to get outside in their backyard more often, connect with other young girls, and do something outside their comfort zone.

Location: Golden Gardens (alternative: Seattle Academy of Arts and Science if the weather is bad)

Who: 6-8th grade girls

Led by: Lucinda Caldwell, Holly Drown, Hilary Bowen O’Dougherty

Please note: Workshop is limited to 30 participants

Plans for the day:

  • Girls will receive Adventure Passports, and through completing various adventures of the day will receive a “swag bag” of KAVU, Cotopaxi, and Giddy by Nature sponsored items!
  • A motivational talk led by Lucinda
  • Meditation and mindfulness tools led by Hilary Bowen O’Dougherty
  • Yoga led by Holly Drown
  • Polar Bear Plunge led by Kat Strasle, KAVU

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS:

Lucinda Caldwell - Owner of Giddy by Nature

  • Lucinda began Giddy by Nature in Seattle and now resides on O’ahu, Hawaii. She is so excited to be back with her Seattle community - see old faces and meet new ones!
  • Lucinda is a Personal Development Coach; she primarily works 1:1 with middle school, high school, and college-age girls to help them feel more confident and empowered in their life.
  • Lucinda majored in English and played lacrosse at Brown University.

Holly Drown - YOUR GIDDY YOGA INSTRUCTOR

  • Holly is originally from Nashua, NH. She graduated from UMASS where she studied Sport Management and played lacrosse. She was a senior captain and midfielder. After college, she coached collegiately at the D2 & D3 level for 7 years.
  • Holly is currently the Head Lacrosse Coach at the University of Puget Sound.
  • She’s been a registered yoga teacher for 10 years (RYT-200) and is currently working on her 500 hours with YogaMedicine. Holly is passionate about crafting yoga experiences that are relatable to athletes of all ages.
  • Outside of yoga and lacrosse, Holly loves climbing, running, hiking and all of the outdoor activities that the PNW has to offer.

Hilary Bowen O’Dougherty - YOUR GIDDY MINDFULNESS TEACHER

  • Hilary is from Rochester, NY but has now lived in Seattle for 8 years where she loves adventuring in the mountains with her husband, 1 year old son, and dog.
  • She graduated from Northwestern - studied human development and psychological services in the school of education and social policy.
  • Played lacrosse in college and beyond, including the US National team. She has coached everything from DI collegiate lacrosse to international to kindergarteners and loves it all!
  • Hilary is currently an Assistant Athletic Director at Seattle Academy where she coaches lacrosse and basketball.
  • She is eager to share the tools of mindfulness with the world to allow individuals to live present, intentional lives!
