Event description

Description

Jump into winter with a great day of ski swapping and ski movie watching in the Methow Valley. The day kicks off with the annual Ski Swap hosted by North Cascades Mountain Guides at the Winthrop Barn. If you have some gear you’re looking to sell, or are looking for a new to you set-up, this is your opportunity! Set-up is from 7:30am to 9:45am, and then doors open at 10am and runs until 1pm. $2 entry for shoppers 16 years and older. 15% of sales are donated to the Methow Valley Nordic Team and the Winthrop Barn.

At 5pm, we’ll re-open the doors for folks to mingle and then settle in for the ski film ‘Pretty Faces’ by Unicorn Picnic starting at 6pm. Pretty Faces is the story of a skier girl. A film that celebrates women who thrive in the snow and are committed to taking the path less traveled to accomplish their dreams. The concept for the film was originated by professional big mountain skier and SheJumps co-founder, Lynsey Dyer with the objective of giving women and girls, young and old, a voice and source of inspiration through a unique look at what is possible when boundaries are broken, dreams captured and friendships cultivated.

The evening culminates in the one-night only premiere of TGR’s new feature length ski and snowboard film, Rogue Elements, presented by REI starting at 7:30pm.

There will be prize giveaways from TGR’s sponsors; plus, everyone in attendance will have a shot at the tour grand prizes, including one of THREE different ski trips this year - to Jackson Hole, Crested Butte, or to Salt Lake City, all of which come with $500 REI gift cards so you can gear up beforehand.

About Rogue Elements: In the winter of 2017, the magnitude of winter's force was on full display. Telephone pole-snapping storms pounded the Wyoming landscape. Regions to the west, recently left arid and forgotten, were gifted with unprecedented accumulation. Blizzards in Europe buried towns in an instant before disappearing just as fast, leaving the lucky few who were there to wonder if it even happened. A Bolivian expedition found grace above 18,000 feet before the elements went rogue and the humans reluctantly heeded warnings from above.

Tickets for movie night is $10, and will be available for sale at the door. Beer and wine will also be available for sale starting at 5pm.
