"Without music life would be a mistake." Nietzsche
Sheffield Chamber Players is founded on the belief that experiencing chamber music in an intimate setting for which it was originally written, profoundly changes the way we respond to music, and to each other.
“[The Sheffield Players] concert was the most moving one I have ever attended in 6 decades. It was enhanced (for me, at least) by your lovely presentation." - Dr. Marsha Tracy
From the Players, RE: Sheffield Chamber Players Perform @ Labcentral:
With Legends of the Andes we explore the intensity and richness of the music of South American composers. The driving rhythms of Alberto Ginastera’s 1st quartet take roots from indigenous Argentine music as well as traditional gaucho dances. Though an Argentine as well, Osvaldo Golijov’s reaches back to 17th century French baroque composer Francois Couperin for its melodies and to the cosmos for their other-worldly rendition in his Tenebrae. We end the program with Leyendas: An Andean Walkabout by Peruvian-American composer Gabriela Lena Frank, which provides a colorful and eccentric tour of the instruments, voices and dances of the region.
Join us here at LabCentral for a night of great music. This is one event not to be missed!
