Event Details

Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) is proud to announce that their 6th Annual Heroes Gala will be on Sat., April 21, 2018, at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers, Arkansas.

This formal event gives you the opportunity to dress up, dine and dance, all while helping us honor our nation's Sheep Dogs - society's protectors, the men and women who have served or are currently serving in our military and first responder professions.

New to this year's Heroes Gala is our VIP Reception at 4:30pm - be sure to grab your tickets for this special reception before they run out!

The evening's festivities will begin at 5:30PM with a social hour and silent auction bidding, opening ceremonies at 6:30PM, followed by dinner and dancing.

This year we are honored to have our very own SSgt Jose Luis Sanchez as our guest speaker. SSgt Sanchez joined the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after graduating from high school in 2003. In October 2011 he suffered severe injuries after stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), resulting in the amputation of his left leg below the knee, and a severely injured right leg. After lengthy rehabilitation, Sanchez retired in July 2013. After his injury, he hid from the world – physically and emotionally – because he feared how others would see him. In February 2015, Sanchez came “out of hiding” to show that he is no longer afraid, and to give back, inspire and motivate others who struggle as he once did. His social media workout posts and other achievements inspire people around the world. Most recently, Sanchez founded the nonprofit R.A.H. (Rise Above Hardship) with two other Veterans to give back and motivate other Veterans and people of all ages through fitness. SSgt Sanchez lives in the San Antonio, Texas, area with his wife, Dulce, and 4 children.

We are blessed to have USMC Corporal Aaron P. Mankin as our emcee. Cpl Mankin graduated with honors from Rogers High School in 2000 and joined the Marine Corp in 2003. Two years later, he deployed with Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Combat Correspondent (one who documents & reports on operations). In 2005 the amphibious assault vehicle he was in ran over an IED; six Marines died and 11 injured, including Mankin, who had 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his hands, arms and face, as well as smoke inhalation injuries. Cpl Mankin currently lives in Northwest Arkansas with his two children and has become an advocate for veterans across the nation by sharing his story.

Another highlight of the evening is the presentation of awards to the Military, Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue, and EMS/Paramedic Sheep Dogs of the Year, as well as other special recognition and awards.
