Shawn's 40th Birthday Marathon and $40 Charity Fundraiser

On April 30, 2017, I will honor my 40th birthday* by running in the full New Jersey Marathon (26.2 miles!). I have chosen to celebrate this milestone by raising money and awareness for four incredible charities who each epitomize Roosevelt's statement. I'm hoping you will join me in the celebration by donating $40 (or what you can) to any combination of the charities I have selected:

Charity Mission Statements
Achilles International - The mission of Achilles International is to enable people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events in order to promote personal achievement. While the programs focus on running, the truth is, running is simply the tool for accomplishing the main objective: to bring hope, inspiration, and the joys of achievement to all.
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) - For almost 100 years, the ACLU has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) - The ASPCA’s mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City - Currently there are 508,503 children living at or below the poverty level in New York City. 43% of children in New York City are from single-parent families. Every year, BBBS of NYC connects more than 5,000 of these kids with a “Big” who can help them believe that their present situation doesn’t have to be their future.
