The Shasta College 2017 Gender Equity Conference will take place on April 28, 2017, from 9am-1pm, on the Student Center Stage.
The conference will feature panelists and speakers of diverse backgrounds and beliefs that will challenge commonly held assumptions about the roles of men and women in society, and illuminate the limitations of our binary gender system. Attendees have the opportunity to actively examine the consequences of stereotyping, and reflect on personal privilege through an intersectional lens.
In collaboration, we will:
ENGAGE in a campus community discussion to identify the barriers to gender equity in academia and the workforce.
EMPOWER one another to develop concrete solutions that address the gaps in equity between genders.
ACT to ensure fair and equal access to opportunity for all.
The conference is followed by an LGBTQ+ Safe Zone workshop from 1:30pm-3:30 pm.
*A light lunch will be provided.
