Families have gathered around tables since the beginning of human time. Let's gather to share our kitchen stuff & stories.

About this event

Food is an integral part of society. What we eat, how we get our resources, and how we prepare our meals tells an interesting story ages in the making. No matter where we come from, we all share common roots in food. It gives us life and often takes on a life of its own within our families and among & between those of our whole human family.

I'm thrilled to partner with my fellow location indie friends Michael Camarillo & his wife Amanda of Novel Excursion Travel for this story-sharing gathering.

Let's share our roots by telling tales about the kitchen. Bring your past and present photos or things that inspire your baking, cooking, growing, or food appreciation within your close & extended family.

This event is FREE but Michael & I want you to learn about & if you can to make a small donation to this month's fundraising effort. We are raising funds for SARAH the South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless. Because food & homes are vital.

Was an ancestor or is a family member a cook/chef/baker/foodie/farmer? Did you inherit a tool of their trade or have a photo of their creation(s) or recipe/cookbook that they wrote?

Or does a present-day object remind you of them or inspire you as a food enthusiast or kitchen witch?

What or who inspired you/them to create at the start of your/their career? Or now?

Is there a dish you make when you’re feeling down? A favorite pie plate, rolling pin, cast iron skillet or apron that comforts you or brings a smile to your face?

Do you grow your own food? Bring a piece of your personal food history & share its story.

Bring photos, letters, kitchen gadgets, utensils, crockery, cutlery, aprons, cookbooks, gardening tools or any other object that represents or connects you to all things food!

Show & Tale is like Antiques Roadshow meets The Moth, or your favorite Pinterest board come to life!

Everyone is welcome to share with a tale. No judges, no prizes, no competition. And no need to practice! Just show your object and share its tale.

Just want to come and listen? Awesome. Observers always welcome.

Michael and Amanda co-founded Novel Excursion Travel, an organization built by families for families with a vision of changing the world one nameless stranger at a time by bridging cultures through travel, education, and service. He is passionate about his two children (Sarah & Adrian), traveling, making a difference, baseball, the outdoors, and writing. Michael is also a published author and is currently working on a fiction novel series and children’s book series.
