About this event
Shared Solar Approaches in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania still does not permit full-fledged "community solar" - a process for which anyone can subscribe to a portion of a solar project not located on their property and be credited on their utility bill. (During the webinar, we will mention the proposed bills to enable community solar that are in Harrisburg).
In the meantime, join the Pennsylvania Solar Center and speakers for a discussion about a recent state Supreme Court decision ruling that overturned some of the Public Utility Commission rulemaking regarding virtual net metering, opening up an opportunity for some shared solar projects. The developer who litigated and won the case will talk about the process and what the outcome means for solar development in Pennsylvania.
The law still requires that a net-metered solar project and its associated home or building be located on properties within two miles of each other and have the same owner on the account; however, we will discuss how these projects can be structured to benefit multiple owners. Another developer will also share how his company is putting this decision into practice.
In addition, the Clean Energy Cooperative will explain how they are funding nonprofit and commercial solar projects in Northeast Pennsylvania using a unique community involvement and investment model.
